Amanda Lepore

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

I think she counts as artwork. I mean she has sculpted herself to look like someone’s acid trip. She does not look natural, but so what? She’s fierce.

Fashion

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

I don’t know fashion. I honestly don’t. I have never thought about what label Paris Hilton is wearing because I am sure whatever it is, she still looks like a whore.

HOWEVER. A friend of mine started working in an Emporio Armani boutique that has been chosen among the 3 most beautiful Armani shops in the world. I had never even dared step into an Armani boutique before. What if I broke something?

Well, now I went in while my friend was there and boy do I get why it’s so sought after. I mean the cuts are to die for! Holy Jebus! It’s all so fucking gorgeous. It’s art! If only I could sew so well as to make these clothes myself. There is no justice in the world.

Rescue Dawn

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

I love this movie. At first I thought it was going to be like all the other war movies: overly patriotic, overly heroic and totally boring with lots of explosions and young boys dying for their country with proud tears in their eyes.

You know the movies I’m talking about.

BUT I am very pleased to say that I guessed wrong. This movie kicks ass. The humor is above criticism, the actors are fantastic and the characters they have created are by far the most interesting bunch of loonies I have seen in a long time. Christian Bale is great, he really gets into character. I mean just look at the scene where he is eating maggots. Yes, he is eating real maggots. He chose to do it.

So yeah, thumbs up.

PS while I am writing this, the others are watching Valkyrie and the TV is just feet away from me. Now there’s a movie I am not going to watch voluntarily. I was already bored out of my mind during the trailers. I am not suicidal so I will not try to watch Tom Cruise fight Hitler.

Countdown

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

This video was submitted to the NFB (National Film Board of Canada) competition. It did not win. It should have.

It’s about a pianist whose fingers become immobile one after the other, counting down to the moment when there’s nothing left to count down to.

You’ll Find A Way by Santogold

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

I love her voice. That high-pitched carrot squeak she does is just… so good. No video, but I think the song itself is enough.

Go Ahead, you know you want it
You’ll have no other way
you just want to take us down
Go ahead, I’ll be the one hit
If I can take you, boy, it just might throw this town

Oh, you want to get it
You make us bleed, it’ll prove there’s life somewhere
And oh, no, I want to yell it
but do we speak or are we just nodding our heads

No way, not me, what you got,
it’s not for me, but you’ll find a way
no way not me, what you got,
it’s not for me

Don’t reach too far, you will fall over
Don’t be surprised what you discover
Don’t fear your call, can’t pull us under
You better watch out, run for cover

We see right through it
You get what you give, you get what you give

Go ahead, I’ll be your junkie
I’ll be deplete you can heap all rubbish here
Go ahead, now dump it on me
if I go quiet will the itch go down with me

Oh, you got to get it
never mind that it was never there nowhere
but oh, no, not for a minute
for now you’ll make your bed
and it will wait, I swear

No way, not me, what you got,
it’s not for me, but you’ll find a way
no way not me, what you got,
it’s not for me

Don’t reach too far, you will fall over
Don’t be surprised what you discover
Don’t fear your call, can’t pull us under
You better watch out, run for cover

We see right through it
You get what you give, you get what you give

Tell them that they’ll get that they wanted, tell them
Tell them that they’ll get what they wanted.
‘Til then….

Bill vs Eric

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

I remember the chills I got when Bill first walked into Merlotte’s. All naughty-looking with that stubble and tormented bad boy look in his eyes. He took away many a breath that night, right?

But he is getting more boring episode after episode. It’s a gradual thing, it’s happening very slowly. But now that we have reached the middle part of the second season I think it is fair to say that compared to the Bill of the first episodes, the Bill of today’s episodes is like mother goose. It hurts my fingers to type this and my heart bleeds, I feel like I am betraying him and Sookie, but I am sorry, this is how I see it. He is not naughty, he is not bad. After Gran died he kind of took over the looking-after business.

But there is a silver lining: Eric. I did not like him very much at first. He did not look that good, he was just… I don’t know. Bill was just too cute at that time to see anyone else besides him. But now that Bill has lost his grip on my heart, I have begun to see Eric. And now that I do see him as the total hunk that he is, I cannot believe I did not see him before. How the hell did I not notice that bad boy?? Well, I am glad I did now.

I have not read the books, but somewhere someone discussed the Eric/Bill thing and said that in the books, Eric is the male lead. I really don’t know if that’s true, but if it is, then I can totally see Sookie switching her mancandy somewhere in the near TV future. And who could blame her?

Although I have to say that Sookie is starting to get on my nerves a bit. The same thing happened to one of my friends and she stopped watching True Blood. I have tried to ignore the problem, but I cannot pretend to love Sookie as much as I did at first. She is just… I won’t say it. I’m hoping that it’s just a false alarm and that when the next episode comes out she will prove herself to me once again.

Anyhow, coming back to the topic of Eric being so much more hot than Bill, you are free to choose your eyecandy, I have chosen mine and I am totally happy with it. I am still hoping Bill will snap out of this hen-phase, though. Won’t hurt to have two little joys now, will it? No it won’t.
